    Our Full Review

With a strict policy of not paying commission to tour guides drumming up business for other emerald stores in the city, Lucy prefers to pass the savings of as much as 15% on to her customers.

It's a simple formula that has allowed her to stay a cut above the rest by offering high quality gems set in tasteful designs at more than competitive prices.

Her bilingual staff also help cut through the mystery and pitfalls of selecting that special stone for that special someone.

With hundreds of emeralds of differing qualities and tones, Lucy and her affable team pride themselves on being able to find visitors 'the right emerald for the right price'.

With prices ranges from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars, unearthing emeralds with that magical 'Green Fire' - the delicious combination of a wonderful deep, rich green tone that still manages to sparkle - has been Lucy's passion for more than 35 years.

Don't be fooled by the fakes - there's no such thing as a flawless emerald - but the eternal search for stones that are a brilliantly deep green but manage to shimmer and shine is what Lucy looks forward to every day.

Located a precious stone's throw from Plaza Santo Domingo, Lucy's luxurious store is every bit as eye-catching as her glittering merchandise.

The interior design of the seventeenth century boutique by Sergio Castaño, the joint-owner of Agua Hotel Bed & Breakfast, only helps underline Lucy's refined approach to retail.

Keep it simple they say and by exposing the seventeenth century walls and dangling three imposing crystal chandeliers from the ceiling Lucy has created a space as innovative and stylish as her exclusive wares.

Selecting great emeralds and setting them in cutting edge designs that remain true to many of the typical gold and silversmith techniques of the region make shopping for that special something easy in this historic gem.

  • Centro

Cartagena's nerve centre serves up breathtaking colonial architecture, the city's top attractions, finest hotels, eateries and drinking dens as well as being the administrative and cultural heart of the city.

Centro has lost none of its importance thanks to the universal lure of its colonial pomp and the concentration of government buildings, hotels, tourist attractions, bars and restaurants in the area.

Cartagena's finest hotels and restaurants have taken over the uber-casas built by slave traders and Spanish plunderers in the 17th century.

The richest residents knocked up stunning two and three-storey mansions by the westernmost tip of the walled city, where they bagged the sea breeze and first whiff of pirates. Today only those at the very top of Colombia's rich list can afford to maintain these opulent houses in their original residential state.
